The Tesla Cybertruck is unlike any other vehicle just by the looks, but driving it is on a whole other level. This is the dual-motor all wheel drive foundation series that costs a whopping $110,000 after taxes and fees, but soon this should be available for $20,000 cheaper when the non-foundation series Cybertrucks begin delivering. One of the most unique and obvious is the ultra-hard stainless steel exterior that is supposedly dent-resistant and reduces longterm corrosion along with the armor glass that Tesla claims can resist the impact of a baseball at 70 mph and also class 4 hail. It’s obviously nice not worrying about paint chips or really any minor damage at all, but the stainless steel does have its drawbacks such as how easily it shows fingerprints, and how blinding it can be at certain angles when the sun hits it. The massive 18.5” center touch screen with an all new cyber themed user interface is a very nice upgrade if you’re used to the smaller 15” touch screens in the Model 3/Y. Other interior features include a 9.4” rear display for backseat passengers, 15 total speakers with dual subwoofers for one of the best vehicle sound systems you’ll probably ever experience, upward folding second row seats, heated and cooled ventilated front seats that are very comfortable despite the same angular themed design as the rest of the car, HEPA filter (bio weapon defense mode), panoramic windshield & glass roof, along with custom cabin lighting that gives some relaxing vibes at night. The bed also has one of my personal favorite features which is an automatic tonneau cover that can be opened and closed with the push of a button on the back of the truck or from the center touch screen or even the Tesla app. This is fun if you are passionate about the truck or spreading EV awareness or just like putting smiles on people’s faces, but if you’re an introvert or just don’t have time to always stop and talk to people it may become a bit of a nuisance after a while. The comfort is one of the best features of this cabin, and I liked the vantage point of sitting up much higher than my Model 3. This is a Tesla at the end of the day and even though this truck is over 6000 pounds, it still has that Tesla quickness we all know and love with a 0-60 speed of 4.1 seconds. Compared to my Model 3 and y I did notice that the Cybertruck motor seems louder, and the regen braking with the all terrain tires definitely was louder when coming to a stop. By day 4 I was finally getting used to the steer by wire maneuvering, and by the time I went back to my Model 3 it felt like a big downgrade when I had to turn the steering wheel way more for a turn than I was doing in the Cybertruck. Since this doesn’t have autopilot I tried to drive with my knee for a few seconds when I needed to grab something, but that is pretty much impossible due to the squircle steering wheel design. Tesla is unfortunately known for their fit and finish issues, and I noticed int his truck there were noticeable bubbles in the white dash material, and a few imperfections such as on the rear floor and there was some plastic stuck in the rubber door sealing.

I have to say, after driving mine for a week, the best thing is the 'smiles' from 3 year olds to 85+year olds. I wish a grad student would do a study as to why some people never see it, others see it and are interested and react (like a photograph)and still others must go to it and ask questions and/or touch it...? Those that seem to be most interested...and that is all ages and nationalities and female and male...they seem excited, elated and happy? ...And after waiting 4.5 years and keeping it a secret for the entire time...I'm happy to share it.

After just 46,000 miles and 4 1/2 years of ownership, last week Tesla service advised me against driving my car as the HV battery was about to fail. It is now at the service centre awaiting a replacement HV battery. Tesla provided a Loaner car (awful experience due to arguments/charges over existing damage). But my main concern is the potential poor standard of the replacement refurb battery, the lack of extended warrantee (it will still be based on my car's age and total mileage) and the potential cost of a future out of warrantee replacement if it fails again. Tesla say it would cost just under GBP £20,000 ($25,000). More than the value of the car which, by the way, is dropping like a stone! I am now questioning the value of EVs. The batteries are clearly unreliable and expensive to replace. When the HV battery fails, the warrantee does NOT cover a new replacement battery. Apparently, the chance of receiving an unreliable replacement battery under warrantee is high because they are refurbished from a previously failed battery. Therefore the seemingly generous 120k mile warrantee isn't helpful. Now that my head is full of all these concerns, I will not buy another Tesla. Currently, I am concerned my car will become a worthless risk as soon as the warrantee period is up in 2027, just 3 1/2 years from now. I have been very careful with my charging habits since owning my car from new and diligently followed the 80/20 rule charging mostly at home.

Gas cost me $4.00 average here in California the last 5-6 years and that's with my Costco membership factored in. Free EV charging at work with $10,000 in fed and state rebates and credits, buying a Tesla was a no-brainer. I've saved at least $3000/year not paying for gas. I expect to get at least 12 years out of it. The car is essentially costing me NOTHING in the long run..

    1. Bad wipers on their own 2. Bad cameras that don't really show the distance very well 3. No stalks 4. No rain sensor which is directly responsible for 1st point. Wait for a refit, car gets few things good but then takes 10 step backwards because $$$$.

There are no savings to be had with electric. First off the startup cost is much higher but you also have to get a charging station for your house. For the same money you can get an internal combustion car that is just as good for way, way way less. From this alone you will never make up the money for not paying for fuel. The maintenance related to internal combustion isn't much its oil change, and the rare differential and fluid changes every few years. One hidden cost is repairs because electric vehicles are VERY unreliable the best being the Model 3 which is about as dependable as your typical domestic so if you think Chevy or Ford are good you'll love the (un) reliability of the Tesla. Other brands fared much worse and are amongst the most unreliable cars on the market. Once the bumper to bumper warranty expires (not powertrain) this is a problem because many things cannot be fixed by your local or shade tree mechanic. Because it doesn't pollute there is no requirement to have OBD-2 communication so the diagnostics and repair is proprietary. Extended warranties are a scam. You pay up front but the company knows what the repair costs will be and distributes the risk across the board. You would be better served taking that money and investing it in the stock market. Just like the Casino if it didn't make money (in other words upcharge the customer losing THEM money) then these products wouldn't exist. LEt s not even get into powertrain failures. Fine there is a warranty on battery just long enough so that it will likely fail after the warranty expires which is past 6-8 years and just beyond your testing timeline. Its 14k to get a new battery on a 6-8 year old car. This pays for a lot of fuel and oil changes. I knew six people with EV's. The three that love them are very wealthy and childless with lots of money and time. The other three with families also wealthy but ran away screaming not just for short range/long charge times (long trips, sports w/ family/kids are awful) but also reliability issues and cost to fix. Not ready for prime time.

You have not included the unbelievably huge repair costs, in case of an Accident!!! In case you do have an accident, the battery pack (which is part of the floor pan) is sure to get damaged, with replacement battery costs being exorbitant ($12k). Unlike ICE vehicles, even relatively smaller damages on EVs can be prohibitively costly, which is why it’s such a bad idea, for the long term, unless you have really deep pockets. 😱

I didn’t watch your video all the way till the end, I switched off as soon as you said, the more you drive it the more you’ll save. using that logic, maybe you should buy two or three of this Tesla, and you would save three times as much, looking at it that way what about the battery replacement cost? I have seen videos of people that just blow up their seven or eight year old Tesla, because of the cost of the battery, which was much more than the actual value of the car at seven years old. In other words, the car is only good as long as the battery is good. When it needs a battery, you throw the car away. I don’t think you mentioned the cost to the environment for making just one battery for sn ev.. mining all the materials, transporting the materials, and then converting all those materials into a battery, creates 40 metric tons of carbon, that’s just to make one battery Then, going right back to environmental issues, last year, the one millionth Tesla hit the road. That means there are more than 1 million EV batteries just from Teslas that will age and need to be disposed of properly in the future. Just think of it, 1000,000 batteries.. You can’t just bury them, or Paul them up in a landfill because they will self ignite, it’s a chemical process.. they must be disassembled. It takes two men to disassemble one EV battery and it takes several hours to do just one battery… then there are the issues that are becoming more common every day around the world and that is battery fires. There were 21,000 V battery fires in China last year in 2023 alone… Then there is the issue of EV owners paying their fair share to maintain the highways. Gasoline car drivers pay for highway maintenance through their purchase of gasoline gas tax per gallon. Here where I live the gas tax is $.58 a gallon or $.59 per gallon. EV owners P0 towards highway maintenance maintenance.:: Don’t be concerned because the government is formulating a plan to Neil EV owners to pay their fair share.. but wait, there’s more Tesla has either laid off or fired thousands of workers, sales RVs are dropping. Tesla stock has dropped by almost 2/3 recently. just on May 1 alone, Tesla, completely shut down their supercharger program, they fired. Everyone connected with the supercharger, production and installation, all the way up to the department head. Oddly enough, two weeks later, they rehired some of those workers in the supercharger production department. But not everyone. The reason is most likely because they have to complete installations that they have committed to already, so they are obligated to fill those contracts that they have for superchargers… but things are not looking quite as Rosie for Evies around the world. I will not be surprised if companies like Tesla, completely shut down as I have heard business analyst say that that possibility is becoming more and more a probability by 2025.. sales have taken a nose dive, especially after the cold weather issues of 2023/2020for winter in which Tesla owners were plugged into chargers in places, like Chicago, and the batteries would not take a full charge, so they couldn’t leave the charger, and people, waiting for the chargers, batteries went completely dead, and they had to tow their vehicles to other chargers, not only was it a frustrating time for Tesla owners, but it was a wake up call heard round the world.. I think electric vehicles are a great idea, for people that need to drive less than 80 miles a day to and from work. But for some one that needs a car that can go around town to do all of the shopping and appointments and commuting to, and from work, but for someone that wants to take the family on vacation six hours away two or three times a year, and drive to grandmas maybe six hours away at Christmas, and then again at New Year’s, and Mother’s Day, and have a car that will not be hampered by cold weather, I think it’s rushing into it a bit. I think for something like that, the new Chinese made seagull that is going to sell for around $10,000 might be a better option. Especially if the family is a two car family. One car, gasoline, one car for short trips and daily commute, the electric $10,000 seagul makes more sense.. but let’s not rush into this. Little things like, fire departments, most of the fire departments in this country or volunteer fireman. They need to be trained, they need to be equipped with equipment to fight these chemical fires, which is what battery fires are, these volunteer fireman across the country, these volunteer fireman are not getting paid, they have real jobs that they need to go to every day to support their families. And now they have to go and learn a whole new technology. Same thing with tow truck operators when they arrive on the scene, they don’t even know if they can touch the car without being killed by electric shock, they must be trained and equipped. And then there are first responders in the medical field, these people have to be trained along with firemen that do emergency jaws of life extractions to get people out of horribly mangled cars in traffic accidents. There’s a lot of training that’s going to be have to be done and fire departments as well as ambulance. First responders are going to have to be trained… this can’t be a rush job, someone needs to take a step back, take a deep breath, and see everything it must be taken into consideration, let’s not forget, can we allow electric vehicles to drive through tunnels, how about being transported on car transport ships. A battery fire caused more than 2000 cars to be totally lost in 2023. Every car on that ship was a total loss.. The fire burn for days. Ask anyone that works for his travel by ship, the most terrifying problem on the ship is fire… how about parking these vehicles inside parking garage, how about someone that has an EV and they work at an oil refinery or at a place that makes liquid oxygen for NASA, you cannot let one of these TVs near that place, how about places that make Ammunition for public use, and for the military.. can you allow an EV to possibly catch fire near one of those sites?.. The same fire risks are there for people that work in grain elevators.. It’s clear enough that considerations and decisions have to be made about where Evies can and cannot be parked at night.. Evies are a good idea, but the batteries are the real problem that must be solved, and I’m sure that they will solve the problem.. when they first started marketing Teslas, they pointed out how fast they were, they pointed out how uselessly fast they were/are I think they should have concentrated their efforts into getting greater range. I have a lighter car with a smaller battery… I think the adults out here in the real world would be more inclined to be attracted to a vehicle that can go 200 miles with a smaller battery. They can recharge in 10 minutes then go to hundred miles an hour with a large battery that takes many hours to recharge. There is a video on UA-cam, comparison between the Tesla pick up truck and a ram turbodiesel, pulling an 8000 pound trailer just around 100 miles. They did the trip together. Both drivers were experienced trailer haulers when the man getting in the Tesla checked his driving range and said that he could go 271 miles on the current state of battery charge at the 81 mile mark, the battery was down to just 6% of its power. It cost $38 to recharge the battery which took almost 2 hours. The diesel pick up truck hauling the exact same weight and brand of trailer used only a quarter tank of fuel, and it only cost $28 to refill, and that refill took less than seven minutes.. There’s a whole lot to think about

Considering it costs around $100,000 it doesn't seem to have much in terms of luxury fittings. The cab interior is very sparse and basic. Who on Earth buys these vehicles? The designer was given a pencil and a str8 edge and told 'NO CURVES'. They thing is a monstrosity. As as for choosing an ev - the whole concept is ill thought out and more trouble than it is worth. How can spending 30+ minutes charging (+finding/downloading the app), waiting if there is a queue, or the charger isn't working, compare with filling up with petrol/diesel in less than 5 minutes??

95% of all truck owners don't tow or haul. Just a quick trip to Costco and Home Depot to get a couple of 2x4. 😂

Omg!! If you hear a noise under your car have a look under your car. You would have found the stick yourself. I would not even admit that on camera 🤦🏻‍♂️

I disagree, Andy...I thought you looked pretty cool driving it! 😎 haha Glad you got to check it out. Someone in my small town in Kansas has one and was nice enough to give me a ride. It was awesome!

I don't believe the glass can resist a baseball traveling at 70mph. I wish someone would test that out in a video. But you hit the nail on the head saying, right now the Cybertruck is a rich person's toy. I'll get mine when the specs are as Elon promised and the price drops drastically. Elon lied to us, just like he when he said the Cybertruck beat a Porsche in the quarter mile, while towing a Porsche.
